We have a great fondness for our hometown of Lewisville, Texas, a city of 92,000 people located 15 miles north of Dallas. Many of our members take an active part in community activities, and each year on Valentine’s Day, our congregation delivers baked goods to the local elementary schools, fire station, and nursing homes for our “To Lewisville with Love” appreciation program. Although Lewisville is a suburb of the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex, the city has cultivated a small town atmosphere and a family-friendly reputation. With roots dating back hundreds of years to a time when Native American tribes lived along the banks of the Elm Fork of the Trinity River, Lewisville is a well established town with more than 30 churches, 39 elementary schools, 14 middle schools, and five high schools. There are 23 parks, two libraries, numerous sports fields, two family aquatic parks, three golf courses, several marinas and more than 250 restaurants in the city. Nestled between Lewisville Lake and Lake Grapevine, the city is a destination spot for the six million-plus visitors who visit the lakes annually. Lewisville residents also enjoy a wide variety of shopping opportunities, including Vista Ridge Mall which boasts more than one million square feet of retail and entertainment options.
