| Week of Compassion
First Christian Lewisville is an active participant in Week of Compassion, the relief, refugee and development mission fund of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in the United States and Canada. Through Week of Compassion funds, we seek to equip and empower disciples to alleviate the suffering of others through disaster response, humanitarian aid, sustainable development and the promotion of mission opportunities. This year, Week of Compassion is responding to the horrific devastation caused by the earthquake in Haiti. For more information on Week of Compassion or to join FCC Lewisville in making a donation to the Haitian relief effort, please visit Week of Compassion

Red Cross Blood Drive
FCC Lewisville recently hosted a blood drive during Sunday School and worship. We had a mobile Red Cross unit set up in the church to take donations from our congregation and our sister congregation, 1ra Iglesia Crittiana. 20 people signed up to give blood, and the Red Cross was able to collect 12 total units. That will save 36 lives! We look forward to hosting our next blood drive where our members will have another opportunity to give the gift of life!

CCA Outreach Christian Community Action unites churches in Lewisville and across the area and provides many critical resources for families in need. Not only do our members support this ministry financially, but we also collect food and household supplies, we work in various CCA programs throughout the year, and we provide volunteers as needed.

| To Lewisville with Love
Each year at FCC Lewisville, we try to show our appreciation to our community servants through our To Lewisville with Love program. Around Valentine's Day, we take baked goods and snacks to several local organizations, including the fire station, CCA, the nursing home, and nearby elementary schools. Our members love having the opportunity to say thank you to these important folks, and the people accepting the goodies seem to enjoy the treats!

Souper Bowl of Caring
For the first time this year, our B.R.A.N.C.H. Youth Group participated in the Souper Bowl of Caring. Our kids joined with other youth groups across the nation to collect money and food for families in need. For several weeks, they collected donations for quarts of homemade soup; then one Saturday, they spent all morning at the church preparing the soup that church members purchased. All the money they raised was donated locally to CCA. FCC Lewisville is honored to be a part of this important mission, and we look forward to making it an annual tradition.
Please click here for a video created by our very own Nate Brown that shows how our kids' efforts can hopefully make a difference right here at home.

Welcome Home a Hero
FCC Lewisville recently had the honor of helping to welcome home a group of US troops at DFW Airport. Every day, more than 100 troops pass through DFW on their way home for two weeks of R&R (rest & relaxation). This is their first time on American soil after returning from duty in Iraq, Afghanistan, Germany, and other US military bases around the world. There is no way to adequately express our appreciation to these brave men and women; we can only hope that we brightened their day for a moment as they returned home for some time with their friends and loved ones.

| Opal's Blanket of Prayer Ministry
Blankets that have been knotted with prayer are taken to members who are in the hospital. Not only do these blankets help them to stay warm, they remind them that they have a church family who loves them and is praying for them. This ministry was named for the beloved mother of Carol, one of our congregation members.

Habitat for Humanity We support Habitat by cooking meals for work sites and building bird houses that are auctioned to support the building of new homes.

Other Outreach FCC is a tithing congregation. This means that we tithe the tithes and offerings given by our congregation. We divide our tithes to support the area and regional Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), CCA, Friends of the Family, Ann Haven's Hospice, and our Compassion International Child.
